Practice & Experience:	Maroun has over 11 years experience in the Middle East and the UAE where he specialises in real estate arbitration. Maroun has extensive experience in international and domestic arbitration, specifically in real estate and construction matters. He has worked on a wide range of arbitration cases before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Paris) and the Dubai International Arbitration Centre DIAC) as well as other arbitration forums. He is also on the panel of arbitrators in DIAC. He has also represented clients before multiple governmental entities in the UAE, including RERA, the Land Department and Dubai Municipality. Maroun holds an LLB (Honours) from the Lebanese University and is admitted to the Beirut Bar Association. He is fluent in English, Arabic and French.
Work highlights	• Appointed by the DIAC executive committee to act as sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in multiple real estate disputes. • Represented an Abu Dhabi based contractor in an ICC construction dispute as lead counsel • Acted as counsel to a claimant in a DIAC arbitration concerning an AED 4 billion partnership dispute • Acted as counsel to the Umm Al Quwain government by providing a wide range of legal expertise • Assisted the UAE Ministry of Public Works in amending their standard agreements • Assisted in drafting many laws in the Emirate of Dubai such as the law of Dubai Events Management Corporation (DEMC Law) • Advised on the structuring of real estate projects in the UAE including drafting the documentation, advising on strategies and implementation • Counsel to Umm Al Quwain Government on several projects such as the Madinat Al Salam project • Advised on a major real estate project on behalf of a Korean developer for the development of the Schumacher Tower • Represented Ajman Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ARRA)in relation to real estate projects in Ajman, and advised on their rules and regulations • Represented an Abu Dhabi based contractor in an ICC construction dispute as lead counsel • Counsel to the claimant in a DIAC arbitration concerning an AED 4 billion relating to partnership dispute • Drafted and reviewed existing laws, proposed amendments of laws and drafted laws on both Federal (UAE) and Local (Dubai) levels for Dubai Events Management law and the Mortgage Law in Dubai; as well as real estate regulations in Dubai • Advised Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority, Tatweer and others in relation to commercial matters • Conducted settlement negotiations on behalf of major clients before the private sector as well as governmental entities and authorities • Drafted a real estate report in relation to the UAE market for ACRILI, 2009
